What does a typical day look like for you as an Account Manager at DialXS?

A typical day as an Account Manager at DialXS goes as follows, answering to questions/requests from clients in my portfolio (mails/tickets/messages/calls) and maintain relationship management, always lookout for new business opportunities and assure the processes we work with align with what I have promised to the clients. This concerns the entire customer journey as they call it, from pre-check to boarding and aftercare, also I’m attending many conferences through out the year nationally but also internationally to seek for new business opportunities and of course meet already existing partners in real life.

How do you differentiate DialXS from other payment service providers?

The difference between us in comparison to many con-colleagues is that we work with a personal approach, meaning when needed you will always be able to contact someone in person to resolve matters as quickly as possible, quick pre-check and onboarding processes. A very capable technical department with in-house development so we are not depending on other third party techniques. Low tariffs, competitive and no hidden costs.

What are the biggest challenges and opportunities in the payment processing industry right now?

Keeping up with the requirements coming from our controlling authorities, since they are responsible for our payment license we are always keen on assuring that we comply to their rules. Since we are a relatively small company keeping up-to-date can be challenging but also keeps us sharp.

What kind of clients or industries does DialXS work with most often?

We have a very broad variety of merchants for which we provide services to, but most often adult related merchants, also dating is very common. But nutra, CBD, head- smartshops and many other high risk nichés are welcome with us!

Can you share a recent project or success story you’re particularly proud of?

The most recent finished project is the implementation of CashtoCode, furthermore we’ve got something big planned for the future but is not yet finished and still a little bit of a secret, but I can assure when finished I will definitely inform the industry about it!

How does DialXS handle compliance and security, especially with ever-evolving regulations?

We have a good and experienced Compliance department and if needed we will make use of hired experts that help us with assuring we are drawing within the lines so to say, due to the strict regulations we have to comply to, 25% of our staff is soly focussed on Compliance related matters. Next to that we have our own technical department and take care of security

What are some emerging trends you’re keeping an eye on in digital payments or fintech?

Of course VAMP is one of those matters we keep track on, but I’m always on the lookout for new payment methods that might be of interest for our merchants, the same accounts for third party services that might be of value for our merchants.

How has your approach to client relationships evolved over the years?

Being in the business for four+ years now I’ve learned that business can be found anywhere, so not just at the booths of a conference floor, but even when standing in line awaiting on an entry ticket for example, therefore never forget to bring your business (talk) with you;)!

What advice would you give a startup looking to integrate payment solutions for the first time?

For startups I can advise that a good start is half of the job, firstly get to know what you are doing and how to do it properly and assure all points are covered before reaching out to a PSP. The better a merchant has taken care of their business the better the chances are to get accepted. Sounds simple but when setting up a business in a high risk niche isn’t.

What makes a partnership with DialXS long-lasting and successful?

When partnering up with DialXS you can be sure of a long lasting business relationship, since we are quite strict but also pretty flexible and listen closely to the needs of our partners we can assure growth together and keeping all involved parties happy. We have been around for 25+ years so can say the experience is there.

What inspired you to work in fintech and become an account manager?

I started working in the financial industry in 2016, firstly started with at a financing company (Qander Consumer Finance) where I learned a lot about compliance, and kinda stumbled onto a job opportunity with DialXS in 2021, right away it had my interest since my formal experience seemed to be a good fit for the job. And here we are four years later and still enjoying every minute of it! Becoming an (Account) manager was a child hood dream, following the footsteps of my father.

Looking back, what has been your most defining career moment so far?

That was my decision to start working in the fintech industry, I didn’t expect upfront that it would be such a good fit for me, but only shows life eventually finds it’s way or leads you to it.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received—and from whom?

The best (career) advice I have received is from my father, do what you like and are good at, so you can reach your full potential. And if you do what you like it makes working life a lot easier, and in the end also benefits your private life, at least that’s the case with me personally. Furthermore I also follow Simon Sinek and he’s got a similar advice/quote: “Happiness comes from WHAT we do. – Fulfillment comes from WHY we do it.”

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I enjoy spending time with my family when I’m not working, practicing sports like fitness/bodybuilding & self defence sports like Pencak Silat (Indonesian fight sport), listen to music or attend a concert or event. Go out for dinner and travelling. Ooh and my dog mustn’t be forgotten of course since in the end that’s a man’s best friend!

Do you have any hobbies or passions people might be surprised to learn about?

Since I really don’t like or eat seafood it might be a bit strange that I have many Koi Carps in my pond, and love to take care of them, one thing they can be sure of, I won’t eat them that’s for sure.

If you weren’t in the payments industry, what do you think you’d be doing?

Good question, I would probably still be working in sales since that’s my passion, but for what kind of company or brand it would be beats me.

Is there a book, podcast, or movie that has had a big impact on you personally or professionally?

The book of Stephen R. Covey, titled ‘The 7 habits of highly effective people’ I would recommend. My favourite movie is Snatch by Guy Ritchie, and also like Pulp Fiction and other titles produced by Quentin Tarantino.

What’s one app on your phone you can’t live without—besides the obvious ones?

Duolingo, I like to make use of that app to keep my (foreign) languages on point.

Coffee or tea? Early bird or night owl?

Coffee man I am, without any additives, just coffee as strong as possible please. Regarding being an early bird or night owl, both would be the only correct answer.

What’s something on your bucket list you still want to achieve?

I’ve been travelling with my dad when I was younger often to many countries in and outside of Europe, and I would love to have similar trips with my own family, so that’s still on my bucket list for the near future. Career wise it’s hard to say, it still feels like I’m just getting started in the industry so who knows where I will end, I guess when my hunger for growth doesn’t end the bucket list will change from time to time since new goals appear along the way.

When do you switch off – and how do you manage that in a job like this?

Switching off? A good plan, but not always easy to implement. I rely on small breaks: walks, a good book, or simply doing nothing. Even in a hectic job, you need to know how to unplug before the battery runs out.
But don’t worry – the job is so exciting that “switching off” often feels more like an art than a necessity.

What was the last thing that really made you laugh – maybe even at the office?

It was when I thought about how many fetish niches exist and how different the typologies are. understand how sleep affects our brain and performance – and how we can optimize it.

“The Matrix” – this movie remains fascinating to me, especially from a neuroscience perspective. It’s not just about what is real, but also about how our perception and thinking shape our entire lives. It reminded me how important it is to think critically and always look behind the curtain – in business and in everyday life.

If you could switch places with someone for a day – real or fictional – who would it be and why?

I’d love to trade places with Warren Buffett for a day. What fascinates me most about him is his extraordinary patience and long-term thinking – traits that are rare in fast-paced business environments. He has an amazing ability to recognize the value of companies and investments over the long term instead of being distracted by short-term fluctuations. And above all, I admire his humility and commitment to principles. How he stays true to his values and doesn’t let trends or market noise sway him is truly impressive. It would be interesting
to find out how I could integrate that mindset into my own life.

What does your inner compass look like when facing tough decisions?

My inner compass is guided by two things: authenticity and long-term impact. I always ask myself: “Will this decision really move me or the company forward?” If the answer is yes, I know I’m on the right path.
Decisions that may seem attractive in the short term but offer no lasting value – I prefer to leave them behind.

What advice would you give to a 20-year-old today?

“Use your time to find what truly drives you. Instead of getting lost in a degree that doesn’t fit you, find a market gap you enjoy and become an expert in it. Work with focus and passion – and after 20 years
of hard work, you can enjoy life to the fullest at 40 as the boss of your own company.” But of course, if you invest in crypto or NFTs today, it might happen much faster… if you’re lucky! (laughs)

And last but not least: Is there a question no one’s ever asked you – but you wish they would?

Yes, there is: “What happens when you dare to try something truly different?” The answer: We’re developing something that has never been done in the dating space before. An approach that brings a breath of fresh air to the industry – and
